<p>Change control for a machined-parts order should name the events that require notice, the approval authority, the affected lots, and the evidence needed before release. At minimum, cover drawing revision, material grade or condition, blank form, fixture or datum method, machining route, outside processor, inspection method, packaging, and supplier location. A change is not harmless merely because the finished part looks similar; it can alter the evidence baseline or the way a critical feature is measured.</p>

<h3 id="define-the-controlled-baseline"><strong>Define the Controlled Baseline</strong></h3>

<p>Attach or reference the released drawing, model revision, material requirement, CTQ list, process assumptions, inspection state, and record format. State which fields are fixed and which alternatives may be proposed. If the supplier identifies an ambiguity, record the clarification or approved assumption. Do not let a programming adjustment become an undocumented design interpretation.</p>

<p>At receiving, compare the shipped revision, material certificate, inspection report, and change notices. If a route-changing event has no approval or affected-lot identification, pause release and request the missing evidence. This keeps change control a practical purchasing control rather than a clause that is discovered only after a failure.</p>
